How Does Colon Hydrotherapy Work?

Why have Colon Hydrotherapy?

In today's environment where many of us seem to be adopting a more hectic and stressful 24/7 lifestyle; but we still want to feel and look our best!

Many times because of work and life considerations we find ourselves living sedentary lives, maintaining a healthy lifestyle filled with exercise and whole foods can become challenging.

Hence, by default, maintaining optimal bowel function can be an equally difficult proposition.

The colon is our body's main organ for elimination. Its primary function is to collect all types of waste matter from the body and eliminate solid and semi-solid waste from the body. The colon acts as our body's drain or sewer system.

As you can imagine it is a breeding ground for bacteria. Over time, fecal matter becomes compacted, stagnating on the walls of the large intestine. This can cause constipation, bloating, and gas.

The waste stagnation can create a toxic environment where mechanical abnormalities such as acute fecal impaction, constipation, colitis, diarrhea, diverticulosis, or mucous colitis could occur.

Even hemorrhoidal inflammation and bleeding, caused by strained bowel movements can be directly related to obstructions that may exist within the colon.

In addition to dietary considerations and exercising regularly, colon hydrotherapy is one of the best ways to break up the hard, fermented and putrefied waste.

Colon hydrotherapy is the gentle infusion of water into the colon to cleanse the colon of accumulated waste material, gas, mucus, undigested food, and toxins.

It helps improve muscle tone of the colon, facilitating the natural peristaltic action necessary for efficient removal of waste debris and may aid in the absorption of nutrients.

Relaxing and Comfortable Sessions

A colon hydrotherapy session is given in a private room with a trained colon hydrotherapist who fully values the sensitivity of the procedure. Our job is to make you feel at ease and calm throughout the session.

The session begins with the client lying on their left-side. A speculum that has both a clean water line and a separate elimination line is then gently inserted with surgical lubricant (so it does not hurt).

After insertion, the client lies comfortably on the table, fully covered during the entire session, and warm water begins to trickle in. Many people report that this is a  very relaxing sensation.

After the speculum is inserted with the attached lines, water and waste are carried through the elimination tube in a gentle pressurized fashion. No mess, no fuss, and no odors. Again, many people say it is a very calming experience.

The process is hygienic and gentle and leaves the client usually feeling wonderfully light and a lot emptier afterward.

Occasionally, colon muscles will contract suddenly and expel a significant amount of liquid and waste into the rectum. The ensuing contraction might feel like there is some cramping or gas pressure in the rectum.

A possible benefit of colon hydrotherapy is that the colon muscle will become far more toned than it was before and help to alleviate any sluggish bowel function that may exist.

As such, it is important to note that you do not become dependent upon colon hydrotherapy; instead, it should help to strengthen your colon to eliminate efficiently, effectively, and regularly.

It takes 35-45 minutes for your first appointment due to paperwork. Each session after that will be approximately 30 minutes depending on your colon response.

Often waste is lodged deep within the colon, therefore a series of sessions are often required to sufficiently soften and eliminate waste matter. It can take approximately 8 sessions to achieve a thorough cleanse.

However, each person is individual in their needs, responses, and their personal objectives, so some people require more and some folks require fewer sessions.

The number of sessions required varies from person to person depending on your current lifestyle and intestinal state. In your first session, I review the Health Questionnaire with you, answer your questions, give you the session and offer my feedback. You choose your course of sessions.

Although colon hydrotherapy should not be embarked on solely for weight loss, most clients do report the benefit of some weight loss due to the ridding of the body's accumulated excess weight. When our colon is clean and able to function efficiently, digestion and metabolic function can improve, as can the absorption of nutrients.

Another possible benefit from colon hydrotherapy is to help our colon become more alkaline to help support the growth of friendly bacteria.

Vital bacteria can only live in an alkaline environment, whereas harmful bacteria thrive in an acidic environment. Due to years of poor eating habits, lack of exercise, and inconsistent elimination, most people have acidic environments within.

It is helpful to infuse and hydrate the colon with highly filtered water that supports changing our colon environment from an acidic one to a more alkaline setting.
